For the first time a PWRC driver wins a Special Stage of a WRC race
Special Stage n°9 of the first leg of Japan Rally (October 26-28, 2007) was won by Armindo Araújo / Miguel Ramalho on Mitsubishi Evo9. It’s the first Special Stage victory for this team on a PWRC car (group N) in a WRC race. At the end of the rally, Armindo Araújo / Miguel Ramalho took 10th place (3d in group N). OMP provides the two drivers with fireproof equipment. Will Power comes second on the circuit at Mexico City Second place for Will Power (Australian team) on the circuit at Mexico City in the last of the championship races (won by Bourdais). The young Australian driver, who lead the race for the first 25 laps, classified fourth overall in the 2007 championship. We can also report that fifth place was taken by Paul Tracy and sixth place by Simon Pagenaud in the race at the Mexican circuit. OMP provides these drivers with fire-resistent clothing. Alain Menu wins 1st race at Macau In the last event with FIA WTCC 2007 in Macao, Yvan Muller (Seat) gambled the championship , resulting in him being knocked out due to a technical hitch in the last round of the first race. The first race ended with the following positions: 01- Alain Menu - Chevrolet Lacetti - 23'10.276 02- Gabriele Tarquini - SEAT Sport Leon TDI - + 2.674 03- Rob Huff - Chevrolet Lacetti - + 4.418 04- Jordi Gene - SEAT Sport Leon TDI - + 11.325 We can report that Nicola Larini (Chevrolet) took second place in the second race. Stefano d’Aste is the Independents’ world champion In Macao, at the last WTCC race 2007, Stefano d’Aste won the Independents World Championship with two splendid second positions. The Team Wiechers’ driver had run two very aggressive races, after taking third time with the private drivers during the qualifying tests, allowing him to gain a colourful victory in the Trophy deigned for the private drivers.
