The Superleague Formula championship kicked off at Donington Park in the UK. A new series of motor racing cars will compete wearing the colours of some of the major football clubs from around the world: PSV Eindhoven, FC Basel, Galatasary, Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Flamengo, Al Ain, Beijing Guoan, FC Porto, Olympiacos, AC Milan and Sevilla FC. Six races are scheduled from now to November 23. Davide Rigon won the first race, after gaining the pole position too, for Beijing Guoan football club and thanks to the technical expertise of Zakspeed team. The Italian driver wears OMP sportswear only, including racing suit, gloves, shoes and undersuit.


22_fiagt.jpgVictories for Wendlinger-Sharp (GT1) and Vilander-Bruni (GT2)
Victory for Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp in GT1 on the Czech circuit of Brno. This is the third victory of the season for the Aston Martin DB9 drivers of the JetAlliance Racing team, after the successes of Silverstone and Oschersleben. Wendlinger-Sharp are fifth in the table, with 34 points. In GT2, let us mention the victory of Vilander-Bruni (team AF Corse) and the third position of Ruberti-Malucelli (team BMS Scuderia Italia), all of them driving Ferrari F430- F. A great comeback for Biagi-Montanari too: they were at the bottom of the table and managed to achieve the fourth position. Vilander-Bruni lead with 69 points, followed by Ruberti-Malicelli, with 47.5 points.


Giorgio Pantano 2008 champion
Giorgio Pantano (team Racing Engineering) has won the GP2 2008 championship. In race 1, Pantano was in pole position and lead the race until 4 laps to the end, when he slid across the white line as he emerged from the pitlane and picked up the inevitable penalty. At the end of the race, he was in the tenth position, but since his competitor Bruno Senna scored fifth, he was mathematically able to win the championship.
The Italian driver is the fourth winner in this category after Rosberg, Hamilton and Glock. Pantano is now waiting to run in F1 and for a new chance, after the short period with Jordan in 2004


Re and Bariani win the 2008 Asphalt Trophy
Felice Re and Mara Bariani rout their opponents during the 18th edition of the Fabaria Rally, winning the rally and the 2008 Asphalt Rally Trophy. On the occasion of the Sicilian competition, the Errepi Racing team, from Como, wins the very first national prize with Citroen Xsara WRC, with the technical support of Vieffecorse.

First victory in Formula master for 18 year old Earl Bamber, from New Zealand, in race 2 on the renovated Imola circuit; on the same day, the JD Motorsport Team wins the 2008 championship when there is still a race to be run. Let us also mention the second position for Chris Van der Drift in race 2; the driver still leads by 7 points and is ahead of Michael Ammermuller, when there is only one race (Monza 4th-5th October) to be run before the end of the championship.
